Father’s Day: 15 Practical Gifts Dad Will Use
Are we still celebrating men in 2025?! [Kidding] Yes, but only the good ones who want a better future for their daughters and sons. A future where women have bodily autonomy, make equal pay to men, and are free to love their body no matter the size. Let’s celebrate the dads that want their sons to grow up both strong and soft; who see toxic masculinity and raise it a big dose of therapy. Let’s celebrate the dads [or dad like father figures] who don’t just “babysit their kids,” but who are active participants in their children's lives.
Did that do it? Are you still here? Good. You’re my kind of people. Listen, my husband and I don’t really do “gifts,” we like to travel, and often he returns things I buy him. Not because they suck, but because he’d rather save the money. So when I buy gifts, I make sure they count. I want to buy things for him that I know he will USE. In this economy, I’m not buying gifts just to buy gifts.

So here are our 15 of the best gifts he’s gotten that he actually uses and loves. [And if I’m being honest, some of them I got because I wanted them and knew he’d love them too.]
If you don’t want to click through one buy one HERE is the full list. There are more than 15, because, well, some gifts have accessories. If I think you NEED the accessory for the ones in my top 15, I’ll let you know below!
The Blackstone:
Listen, we held off on this purchase forever. We’d see them and eyeball them for years. Last year, I just did it. It’s worth the hype. However, make sure you learn how to season it before you use it and learn proper care. We didn’t do that when we first got it, but the good news is, you can always re-season it. I hated cooking on the grill because things would catch fire. Don’t judge me, I’m a good cook, just not a good griller. Now, I get to help him grill, it’s kind of fun for us to do together.
*Make sure you’re getting the most current model. Often times there is a 2019 model, and it’s more expensive than the newest one! You can get a lot of the accessories later. The one I wouldn’t wait on though is getting a cover if you’re going to store it outside all the time. You don’t want it getting wet. The real Blackstone grill cover keeps the water out and is super thick canvas. You don’t want to spend that much on a grill and not protect it. Don’t take my word for it, just look at the reviews. How often do you see all 5 stars filled?
JBL Portable Bluetooth Speaker:
What do you get the man who loves his bops? [Did I do that right?] Is it tunes, jams, hits? Who knows?! This JBL Portable Bluetooth speaker hits! [I totally think I did that right.] We use this damn thing everywhere. We’ve taken this speaker to kids soccer games to hype up the kids for soccer practice, hiking, camping, vacations, and we use it, seriously, like every day, in the backyard. They have several versions, and I think all of them are waterproof, and they really are. Don’t ask me about my child throwing it in the pool because he thought it would be funny. It still stresses me out. They come in different colors like Camo , red , pink , and teal , [and more] if he’s into that sort of thing. They even have white, but don’t get white. We all know how cool it looks and we all say we’ll keep it clean. Friend, don’t lie to yourself. And lastly, my favorite part…. Not only does the battery last FOR-EV-ER, they have one that will also charge your phone too!. It’s my favorite feature of all. Actually, that is tied to my other favorite thing… you can link multiple JBL Speakers together, they don’t have to be the same model. [If he REALLY loves music, this one is the ultimate for him. - but buy at your own risk, this puppy is LEGIT]
Handmade Old Fashioned Bourbon Drinking Glass
Maybe your man[child], likes to drink, in a healthy, responsible way. [don’t be an enabler, please and thank you 😆 ] This set of wooden whiskey glasses are top notch. personally don’t like whiskey, but I’ll sit and have a glass of wine out on the back deck while he sips on his. I don’t think I’ve ever called a glass handsome before, but baby, these are some handsome old-fashioned wooden glasses. [And if he’s not into whiskey but he loves wine, these Stainless Steel, Matte Black, wine glasses are the way to go. Also, very handsome]
Back to the cooking dad/man. Clearly, we like to grill, and I was tired of my husband being able to grill everything to perfection, except for CHICKEN. He get’s [or got] weird about it, and would also over cook it and dry it out. So, enter the Meater Plus, Bluetooth [and wireless, a lot aren’t] Digital Meat thermometer. BOOM. No more dried out chicken because for whatever reason he trusted this more than the old fashioned basic AF meat thermometer.
Skylight Frame: Touchscreen Digital Photo Frame:
For the dad that’s still going into an office. Skylight has to be one of my favorite gifts. [Honestly, I give it to all the people.] You’re able to send photos tot he frame from your phone. It’s an amazing way to show him you’re thinking of him all year long. However, ‘keep it classy San Diego.’ The photos will show up portrait or landscape, so they aren’t all wonky, and there’s several frame colors to choose from to match his office style. Listen, My husband works from home and I go into the office, and I still send him pictures. 🥰
Customized, Monogram Wallet:
If you want to make things more personal, what about a Personalized Wallet? Yes, please! We’re all about practical gifts, so anytime I can customize something he will use, it’s an added bonus.
A Father’s Guided Journal To Share His Life & His Love (Hear Your Story Books):
And because we are celebrating dads that show up for their family. What better way than to give him a little homework?! (Don’t tell my husband, but this is one thing that the “kids” got him this year) So often, we hear the stories over and over and over, but I want them to have them forever. This was a super cute way to do that, and really, it’s for our kids. Win. Win.
Star Wars Men's Yoda Dad Father's Day T-Shirt
Okay, it’s Father’s Day. What dad doesn’t love a pun shirt. Listen, sometimes this seems like one of those gifts that’s just a gift for the sake of buying a gift, but every time I find something that is pure gold like this , my husband wears the hell out of it. It’s either because his “kids” got it for him, or he just really is that cheesy. I think it’s a mix of both. You can’t really go wrong with Star Wars, can you? I mean, unless he doesn’t like Star Wars.
For the dad that likes to work out, there are several options. Because of space, I love this set of adjustable weights. They have from 25lbs, up to 60lbs. You can get them in a single dumbbell or the pair . They spin the dial to get the weight they want, so it’s basically like having a weight rack without taking up all the space. Win for me, win for him!
Tackle Bag With Rod & Gear Holder
Growing up, I had the hunting and fishing dad. This fun backpack keeps all his fishing gear in one handy place if he’s walking the shore line, he doesn’t have to worry about carrying a tackle box with him. I think it’s super cute, but that’s not the word my dad would use. Haha There’s a couple sizes and a couple different color options.
Men's Ankle High Waterproof Hiking Boots
I think I got these hiking boots for my husband as a Christmas gift one year. 5 years later, he still has them, and I’m pretty sure he would tell you they’re the best boots he’s ever owned. They have all the sizes, but unlike a lot of boots out there, they even sell the sizes in wide, which was a plus for me. You don’t want your [or his] foot smashed in a boot that is too narrow, especially when you’re hiking AND they have like 14 different color combos for your picky dads.
Nightstand Organizer:
Now, I don’t know if this was for him or for me, but it’s perfect. A nightstand organizer so his shit just isn’t scattered all over the nightstand and dressers. If 15 years of marriage has taught me anything…. It’s that you have to train these men in the best way possible. It’s subtle, it’s a gift of organization, and it looks cool. AND for the love of GOD if he asks me where his glasses or earbud case is because he can’t find it… I get to say, “well… why isn’t it where they should be?!” and it's magical.
Brooks Men’s Ghost 16 Neutral Running Shoe:
For the dad that runs, hopefully not away from his feelings, and just like, outside or on the treadmill – These Brooks are my [and his] favorite running shoes. And like the boots, there are so many color options, AND they sell regular sizes, narrow, wide, and wait for it, Extra- Wide… because listen, you know what they say about big feet right?! They need big shoes. 😂
Rangefinder:
Your Zaddy like to golf? I got him! This rangefinder is always a hit. And unless he’s a pro, all men either suck at golf, or are just okay, but either way, they still want all the gear. The golf coarse is their mall. They wear all the matchy clothes, have all the matching gear, and just strut their stuff down the greens. Tell me I’m wrong? We get cute and wander around the mall, judging each other [don’t pretend like you don’t] and they do it outside on the golf course.
The Amazon Kindle:
And lastly, my personal favorite. Something you may not really think about, but it’s SO worth it. A kindle. I thought I would hate it. I thought my husband would hate it, but we LOVE it. Having the Kindle and Kindle Unlimited makes us read more than we ever would have. And unlike your phone or ipad, you can read it in the sun. They even came out with one that ahs color now, https://amzn.to/43AgmoJ, we don’t have one, but in the event our original one craps out (which I don’t see happening) I think I’d want the color version for sure. The other thing that I love about it is that, because it’s just a kindle, when we get on it, we just read. There’s no looking at other things and scrolling social media. We take these bad boys camping, on vacation, [me to the soccer games, because, sports] I just always have it ready to roll for either one of us at any given time. I would get the whole set up.The cover, the stand up charger for the night stand, and the Kindle… it just makes sense if you are an avid reader. [Also, my kids love theirs too] The battery lasts forever and I’d be willing to bet this is one of our most used items of all time.
